Epicor lost their senior IS person in their Boston facility. That person was responsible for administrating Epicor's LAN that included Windows NT server and Microsoft Exchange. Other responsibility in that office included network expansion, classroom support and end user support.
Epicor needed to replace that technical expertise but didn't want to pay a senior level person to do both end user support and high level network administration.
They decided to contract Nextstep IT to do the high level planning and support of their network on a part time basis and still would have money to hire a junior level person to take care of the end user support or rely on their own internal helpdesk located in San Diego to support that office. This solution gave Epicor the most flexibility and cost savings.
Epicor now has the best of both worlds of having highly trained technical personnel supporting their Boston location without having to pay a full time employee to the job. Most of the end user support issues are handled by Epicor's IS helpdesk in San Diego.
